Teddy V
As I remember, Eric “E.C.” Owings had just left “Lil Ernie and the Big Thang” and we were looking for a guitar player when Papa J , fresh off a Southwest tour, called me and told me about this cat he had heard in Albuquerque. He was so insistent that this had to be our new guitar player that the band hopped in the van and drove to New Mexico to check it out. We ended up in this little ranch house on the outskirts of town and I met and heard Teddy “V” for the first time. Papa J was right, Teddy with his signature Flying V Gibson guitar was a BluesMan; and also one of the kindest most gentle souls you ever wanted to meet. Teddy played with “Lil Ernie and the Big Thang” for a year and a half before his tragic passing. R.I.P. my friend, our loss was surely heaven’s gain.
